U14s Lose out to Fechins

In a game dominated by defences, it was St. Fechins who came out on top in this Under 14 League clash in Cluskey Park. The early exchanges were dominated by the Fechins who took their chances with a goal after six minutes and added two further points to be ahead by 1-2 midway through the half. Strong defensive displays from Oisin McGuinness, Conor Neary, Lorcan McGeeney and Paul Coyne helped the Joes mount a number of attacks. It was Caolan Conroy who had an excellent game all through who led the way setting up Bryan Knipe for an excellent goal to leave the half time score Fechins 1-2, Joes 1-0.


Darren O Rourke after another excellent run had the Joes back to within a point, however two points from frees got the Fechins lead back to three points. A fine long range point from Conor Neary for the Joes left two in it. Fechins then took control and Joes goalkeeper Shane Barron with two excellent saves kept the goals out but Fechins added five points without reply. In the closing ten minutes the Joes came back into the game with points from Donal Johnston and Conor Neary, however it was St. Fechins who ran out deserving winners of a very sporting game.
