Under 14 - League Round 2

On a wet and windy evening in Collon the home side ran out convincing winners in this under 14 league match. Joes settled first with Caolan Conroy opened the scoring with a fine point, Alex Hannefy combined well to send a low shot to the net. The lead was quickly wiped out with two quick goals from the home side. However the Joes recovered with Lorcan McGeeny soloing through for a point, Alex Hanneffy two and another from Caolan Conroy put the Joes into the lead 1-5 to 2-0 after 15 minutes. From there to half time Mattock/Hunterstown took control, showing their strength and combining well to score 3-3 without reply,  leaving them ahead 5-3 to 1-5.


The home side continued to dominate from the thrown in of the second half adding three points before Conor Neary lifted the Joes spirits with a great solo goal. The Joes defence withstood some heavy pressure with Shane Barron giving a man of match performance in the Joes goals with three outstanding saves. Mattock/Hunterstown scored another goal before Alex Hanneffy finished well  for the Joes final point of the game. The last 10 minutes were dominated by the home side adding a further two goals and five points, to give them a fully deserving victory.


St. Josephs young squad fought to the end and had fine performances from Shane Barron in goal, Thomas McGuinness in defence, Oisin McGuinness and Caolan Conroy battled all through at midfield, while up front Alex Hanneffy and Conor Neary were the key players.
