Match Report from Sheelan Cup match with Gaels

25 Feb 2011

Dundalk Gaels held out for a one point victory in an entertaining Sheelan Cup Group A game at Cluskey Park on Friday night.

The home side had the better of the opening exchanges and were leading by 0-3 to no score. However the Dundalk men found their rhythm and found the net through Anthony McSorley and another from Eanna McArdle to put their side 2-3 to 0-7 ahead at the break.

David McComish opened the scoring with a point for the Gaels and the remainder of a very open half proved very closely contested. The Joes looked as if they would get something from the game after a late rally as Alan Quigleys point left just one between the teams. However, the visitors, held out for a narrow victory. Sean McQuillan and Derek Mulligan were the pick of the Joes team.
