Last Man Standing - Week Two - Results

20 Feb 2011

302 entered and after two rounds of fixtures, there are only 128 left, as we have have seen drop off rates of over 33% in each of the first two weeks. Full details as always, can be found on the sheet attached at the bottom of this page.

The big story this week was Limerick again, but they took out even more players this week than last. Having started off as pre tournament favourites, they have lost both of their opening games and this week taking out 47 entrants to our competition in the process. When you consider that we lost a total of 70 this week, you can see how significant this lose has been.

Two of the most popular picks this week accounted for 106 of the 128 who are still in play, with 63 picking Down and 43 on Louth. For the second week running the Wee County, at home, proved popular and the late Paddy Keenan driven surge that saw them over the line will be welcomed by many. However, it will be interesting to see if Louth are as popular next week, when they travel to Wexford for a top of the table clash, where one, or both of them will drop points for the first time. A special congratultions to one of Declan O Sullivans entrants, Brian Kitt, who was the only one to pick Waterford to beat Limerick. Also to Frank Killeen for not letting county loyalties get in the way of picking a winner.

Some of the entrants who didnt make it through this week are:

Monaghan - Former Louth sharp shooter and the man who player managed the intermediate championship win in 1990, Jim Mc Donnell

Cork - Jim Woods and Marion Hoey

Westmeath - Players Anthony Keenan and Liam Mernagh

Cavan - Aideen Smyth will be able to fully focus on the dancing.

Tipperary - Marion Conlon!

Offaly - Jim Byrne and Sabina Gorham

Limerick - Three O Connells referres, Damien Murtagh, Peter Bannon and Jonathan Conlon. Experienced GAA journalist, Eunan Whyte. Club Secretary John Fox and Vice Chairman Aidan Gorham. Clans player, Daryl O Hanlon. Our youngest entrant, Tadhg Reilly. Murtaghs, Paul and Henry. And players, Tommy Yore, Brendan O Donoghue, Alan Mc Kenna and Gerry Hoey.
